Convention center

Bogota, Colombia

The contemporary convention center is, by nature, anti-urban. Often exiled to the margins of the city because of its huge footprint and need to accommodate large volumes of visitors, the convention center does little to add to city life. The new CICB turns its great size into a virtue rather than a liability—stretching the center of Bogota to the Corferias area and providing a hive of urban activity. This building is conceived as a 4-dimensional space that integrates public and private events on a time-share basis and puts a premium on public space. The CICB will be an international, national and urban hub that will draw residents and visitors 24 hours a day, and 365 days a year.
