The proposal for the International Olympic Committee Headquarters consolidates the most enduring historic and natural assets of its site, the Château de Vidy and the Parc du Bourget. The new building lifts into the air, embracing the Château in a virtual courtyard while allowing the park to flow freely beneath it. The liberated ground plane permits unimpeded public enjoyment on the surface level.
With each successive floor, the view to Lake Leman and the surrounding mountains is more dramatic, culminating at a green roof with panoramic views, solar collection, and vegetable-planted gardens. The arena-like workspace is dynamic, transparent and non-hierarchical, promoting collaboration and giving all constituents of the IOC—its workforce, guests, and constituents—a sense of shared purpose.
