PENN STATION 3.0

Invited design challenge

New York, NY

2013

Penn Station 3.0 is a city within a city, a porous, light-filled civic structure containing a diversity of programs reflecting the hybridity of contemporary urban life. Not just a gateway to New York, the station will be a destination itself with fast, transit-oriented functions layered over slower ones in a gradient of decelerating programmatic elements, from the tracks to the roof. The building will play host to transient and resident populations including commuters, office workers, shoppers, foodies, culture seekers, and urban explorers.
